Headquartered in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, KARAM Africa operates from a fully equipped facility that houses both a warehouse and a manufacturing unit. The local manufacturing of hard hats and fall protection harnesses has allowed for faster turnaround times and more competitive pricing. Backed by a dedicated team of approximately 40 professionals and supported by sales offices in Egypt and Kenya, KARAM Africa delivers tailored safety solutions and direct, in-country service across the continent. This ensures improved accessibility, regulatory compliance, and stronger user engagement-bringing the globally trusted strength and innovation of KARAM closer to African industries and their evolving safety needs.

1999 First Indian company to achieve CE certification in fall protection equipment

The company achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Indian company to receive CE certification in fall protection equipment. This achievement demonstrated the company's commitment to manufacturing equipment that meets European standards. All equipment was now manufactured according to European Norms and CE certified.

2004 Expanding to set up a second vertically integrated manufacturing set up

The company established a second manufacturing unit, a vertically integrated plant for the production of fall protection equipment in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. The company achieved the ISO 9001-2000 systems certification from UKAS (UK), demonstrating its commitment to quality management and continuous improvement.

2005 Expanded to set up a manufacturing unit in Uttarakhand

The company established a manufacturing unit in Uttarakhand, India, to meet the increasing demands of the market. This expansion allowed the company to increase its production capacity and better serve its customers.

2006 Launch of personal protective equipment range (PPE)

Building on the success of its fall protection equipment, the company launched a new range of Personal Protective Equipment, including safety eyewear that was CE certified and conforming to EN norms.

The company also established regional offices in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, further expanding its presence and reach across India.

2007 Expanded PPE range with introduction of safety footwear

The company introduced a range of safety footwear with a unique Dual Density Polyurethane outsole, providing customers with additional protection and comfort in their workplace. The company also doubled its infrastructure in both manufacturing and marketing, increasing its production capacity and expanding its distribution network to better serve its customers.

2008 Establishment of multiple regional offices across the country

The company continued to expand its personal protective equipment range from head-to-toe by launching Ear-Protection gear that conformed to EN norms and was CE certified. Additionally, the company's Full Body harnesses now complied with global standards, including American and Australian norms.

The company also established multiple branch offices across the country to increase its outreach, better serve its customers, and meet their needs.

2009 Introduction of premium range of full body harnesses & retractable fall arrestor blocks

The company introduced its premium range of full body harnesses, the Magna Range, characterized by extreme comfort and ergonomic features. These harnesses provided users with superior comfort and support, allowing them to work safely and efficiently.

The company also introduced an exhaustive range of max catch KARAM retractable fall arrestor blocks, available in both polymer and aluminum casing.

2010 Established a state-of-the-art manufacturing set-up in Sitarganj, Uttarakhand

The company established a state-of-the-art manufacturing set-up in Sitarganj (Uttarakhand), incorporating the latest technology in shoe molding (using specialized Desma machines). The company also enhanced capacity for fall protection equipment manufacturing which allowed the company to increase its production capacity and better serve its growing customer base.

2011 Launch of Fixed Line Systems

The company launched an exhaustive range of fixed line systems, including both vertical and horizontal anchorage. These systems were designed to provide workers with increased safety and protection while working at height and further expanded KARAM's range of fall protection solutions.

BLACK+DECKER understanding the requirement of PPE's ventured into the Indian market with its top-notch highest quality and with CE/ANSI certified range of PPE's for the Indian market, partnering with Karam Safety Private Limited under a licensee partnership.

The company established a marketing office in KwaZulu Natal to better serve customers in the South Africa.
